Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 headed to O2 Refresh

O2 has confirmed it will stock Google’s new Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 9 tablets with both devices available on its unique O2 Refresh Pay Monthly plan.

O2 hasn’t confirmed any pricing for the Motorola-made smartphone and HTC-made tablet but did announce that it will be available on O2 Refresh in the coming weeks. For those who don’t know, O2 Refresh is a unique tariff that allows you to upgrade your contract whenever you like by only paying the outstanding hardware amount (and not your entire contract amount like other networks).

For customers planning to make the upgrade from the Nexus 5 to the Nexus 6, O2 is willing to offer up to £81 for your old device via O2 Recycle but personally, we would look to sell it second hand privately as you’re likely to receive substantially more.

There’s no confirmed UK pricing for either device but we’ve already heard that the Nexus 6 will cost $649 at launch in the US whilst the Nexus 9 will begin at $399. The pricing is the most shocking part of the new devices as the Nexus range have traditionally been high end devices available at mid-range prices and with the US pricing almost identical to the iPhone 6 Plus, we may see the handsets launch at £500+ and £350+ in the UK resulting in much higher than expected monthly line rental charges.

We’ll keep an eye on this and confirm when we have any more info on pricing.
